Fairfield Rotary Working Groups

 

The Object of Rotary is to “encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise.”  Rotary is a service organization.  Rotary strives to achieve its objective of “Service Above Self” through activities in four primary areas.  These are often referred to as the Four Avenues of Service.

 

Our Rotary Club has organized its leadership and resulting activities around these Four Avenues of Service.  By doing so, we are able to make certain our Club consistently carries out our Service Objective.

 

 

Club Service:  Our Team Leader is Mark Koeninger

This area promotes the development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.  It involves the activities necessary to make the Club function successfully and achieve its goals.

 

Permanent Committees:

Auction Committee, Patti Partch, Chair - Brian Begley, Chair-elect

This committee will serve as leaders for the auction held in April each year. The auction is the key fundraiser for the Fairfield Rotary Club.

 

Membership Recruitment and Retention Committee, Mike Dickey, Chair

This committee will encourage club members to actively recruit new members into the club to meet or exceed recruiting goals for the year. Membership classifications will be tracked and utilized as a recruiting tool. Programs that foster retention will be developed and maintained.

 

Public Relations, Cindy Koenig, Chair

 

Club Heritage Committee, (Chair Needed)

This committee will assure that the history and traditions of the Fairfield Rotary Club are properly recorded, organized, stored and updated and also assist Club members to become knowledgeable of key aspects of the Club’s heritage.

Note:  Club Service duties by Team leader performance or delegation also include overall Financing, Annual budget, Public Relations/Publicity, Weekly Club Programs, Membership Accountability, Club Fellowship, and Club Elections

 

Vocational Service:  Our Team Leader is Howard Dirksen

This area represents the opportunity that each Rotarian has to represent the dignity and utility of one’s vocation as an opportunity to serve society.  Rotarians promote and foster high ethical standards in business and professions and promote the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations.

 

Permanent Committees:

Ethical Business Committee, Jim Mullaney, Chair

The purpose of the Fairfield Rotary Business Ethics program is to promote ethical business principles in the Fairfield Business Community. The ultimate objective is to foster an ethical business culture that will distinguish the Fairfield community in a positive way. A known positive business culture will attract local community business support as well as attract outside business support and establish a model for other communities in the U.S.

 

Scholarship Committee, Rick Johnson & Bill Bailey, Chairs

This committee will be responsible for recruiting and reviewing scholarship applicants and selecting students to receive scholarships sponsored by the Club.

Note:  Vocational Service duties by Team leader performance or delegation also include all awards and community recognition given out during the year.

Community Service:  Our Team Leader is Mark Johnson

This area relates to the activities that Rotarians undertake to improve the quality of life in their community.  Particular emphasis is given to helping children, needy families, the aged, the handicapped, and those most in need of assistance.  Rotarians strive to promote the ideal of service in their personal, business, and community lives.

 

Permanent Committees:

Interact Club Committee, Mark Johnson, Heidi Schiller, Mitch Rhodus Advisors

This committee is responsible to assist and support the faculty advisors and youth leaders of the Fairfield High School Interact Club and assure close connection with and support from the Rotary Club and its members.

 

Youth Leadership Committee, Fred Valerius, Chair

This is a broad committee that is responsible for the encouragement of Youth Leadership and Youth Development through the following Projects and Activities:

·         Camp Enterprise

·         RYLA

·         Rotary Four Way Speech Contest

·         Rotary Day at ?U.N.

·         High School Senior Presentations at Club Meetings

·         Dictionary Project

·         Spring Activities Day

 

Road Master Committee, Will Arledge, Chair

This committee is responsible for roadside pickup of trash by club member teams along Gilmore Road between Planet Drive and Mack Road bi-monthly. Work to be pre-scheduled among club member teams.

 

New Projects Review Committee, Mark Johnson, Chair

This committee will collaborate with other club committees to successfully select, plan, implement and evaluate local service projects.

 

Christmas Project Committee, Mark Johnson, Chair

This committee is responsible for organizing the Club’s annual project to provide needy families in Fairfield some of the necessities for a joyous Christmas.

Note:  Community Service duties by Team leader performance or delegation also include senior citizen initiatives and the promotion of Rotoract.

 

 

International Service:  Our Team Leader is Heidi Shiller

In this area, Rotarians strive for the advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.  International Service Projects are designed to meet the humanitarian needs of people in many lands, with particular emphasis on the most underprivileged children and families in developing countries.

 

Permanent Committees:

Youth Foreign Exchange Committee, Cathy Milligan

This committee is responsible for promoting Rotary youth exchange programs, both in terms of year-long assignments and summer exchanges.

 

Adult Foreign Exchange Committee, Bob Jung

This committee is responsible for promoting Rotary adult exchange programs, specifically the inbound and outbound GSE exchanges sponsored by our District.

 

International Projects Committee, Bob Lerer and Heidi Schiller, Chairs

This committee is responsible for creating and guiding the club relative to any international service project and shall supervise and coordinate the work of any subcommittee related to this activity.

Note:  International Service duties by Team leader performance or delegation also include promoting participation in the foundation of Rotary International, disseminating foundation project information, assisting other club committees in obtaining foundation financial support for worthy projects and promoting sustaining members attainment of Paul Harris Fellow status.
